"Oz" - Sing With Me If It's Just For Today... — LiveJournal
If I should fall behind, Guyster, wait for me.
Watching "Oz" was always an unusual TV experience for me. The writing was bloated with that annoying Greek chorus in a wheelchair spewing platitudes. I patiently waded through all of that to come to the weekly part of someone getting thrown in the hole. The hole was all about penis and butt and degradation and suddenly, the last half hour I spent watching it didn't seem so wasted. This season, however, there must have been some committee decision to take out all of the fun from "the hole" scenes.

Last night I caught up with the final two episodes and true to its bad form, it ended with Oswald Penitentiary being closed because of a bio-terrorist attack. To quote wonderboynj who quoted Marc Shaiman, Oy gevalt! Wait a minute. Am I actually quoting Marc Shaiman?

Goodbye Keller and Jazz. I hope you both get other naked jobs soon.

Current Mood: annoyed annoyed

Speaking of the other "OZ," I did make a couple pitches at the AVAM project meetings to use some...er, cable-type imagery in reference to the OZ mystique for our Mardi Gras, but 'twas to no avail. Maybe it's a coincidence, but the number of naked men in body paint was also drastically lower this year. Oy vey.

What is the AVAM?

Less naked men this year in bodypaint? Hmmm, I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing (a good witch or a bad witch). I guess it depends on the paint.

Ah, AVAM's the American Visionary Art Museum in Baltimore, which is pretty much the world standard for a showcase of what used to be called "outsider" art (but which is really just the art of people who've had a glimpse at the wiring under the board, for whatever reason).

I'm a fan of the naked bodypaint people, partly because I'm a post-modern shorthaired hippie and like to see people doing their thing, as it were, and partly because I love the fact that people will walk across Key Highway nekkid in absolutely freezing weather to show their esprit du corps with this amazing amazing museum.
