It helped me remember when Billy, newly laid off, forgot his car in almost exactly the same spot and got a ticket. I grabbed the chance to wave the ticket in his face and dramatically write out a check to pay for it. It's not like he didn't already feel awful about the ticket and especially not having the money to pay for it. It was just a good opportunity for me to help him feel worse about it.
This morning, I gave myself a good, swift kick in the memory nuts and continued to walk Bob.
